EXTRAORDINARY DRIVERS LICENCE – APPLICATION AND VARIATIONS

FourLion Legal can assist you in an application for an Extraordinary Drivers Licence (EDL) or application to vary an Extraordinary Drivers Licence.

An EDL allows individuals who are disqualified or suspended from holding a licence to drive in certain circumstances, such as, but not limited to:

  • Work reasons
  • Medical conditions
  • Support care

An EDL is granted at the discretion of the Court. An EDL will only be granted to those living or working in unusual circumstances and is dependent on your driving history. Applications will only be accepted after a certain period of time has passed and is dependent on the seriousness of the offence which disqualified you from driving or resulted in the cancellation of your licence.

An Extraordinary Drivers Licence or EDL allows you to drive in certain areas and within fixed time periods as ordered by the Court. It is important for you to keep a written record of when and where you drive and the reason for driving so that, should you be asked by the police for your driving log, you can produce it.

You must ensure that you obey all driving laws, regulations and rules as breaking these may cause you to lose your EDL. If you are granted an EDL we will explain to you the conditions of your EDL.

If you already have an EDL, we can assist you in varying the conditions on that licence.
